my favorite homemade bloody mary mix + bloody mary and michelada cocktail recipes

Ingredients

bloody mary mix

  • 3 cups tomato juice
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1-2 teaspoons tabasco sauce (depending on how hot you like it)
  • 1/3 cup pickle juice
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper

bloody mary cocktail

  • 1.5 oz vodka – per drink
  • homemade bloody mary mix (see above)
  • recommended toppings: bacon, celery, pickles, olives, lime wedges, etc!

michelada cocktail

  • lime wedges
  • chili powder sea salt, for garnishing the rim (2 tablespoons chili powder + 1 tablespoon fine sea salt mixed together then poured out on a small plate)
  • 8 oz Mexican beer – per drink
  • 1/2 lime, juiced – per drink
  • homemade bloody mary mix (see above)

Instructions

Homemade bloody mary mix

  1. Combine tomato juice through pickle juice in a blender then blend until smooth. Transfer mixture to a pitcher then stir in celery salt and black pepper (taste and add more celery salt, pepper, and/or tabasco if needed). Refrigerate until chilled.

Bloody mary cocktail

  1. When ready to serve, fill each glass with ice. Add 1.5 oz of vodka then fill the glass with the homemade bloody mary mix. Stir well then garnish each glass with your favorite toppings like bacon, celery, pickles, olives, shrimp, you name it!

Michelada cocktail

  1. When ready to serve, wet the rim of each glass using a lime wedge then dip the rim in the plate of chili powder sea salt until completely coated. Next, fill each glass with ice. Add 8 oz of beer, juice from 1/2 a lime, then top the glass with 2oz of homemade bloody mary mix. Stir well then garnish each glass with lime wedges!
